The Infamous Masterson’s , nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my most recent experience at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I found behind its entrance was disturbing and far below any standard .

From the moment I entered , it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of old alcohol and neglected washrooms permeated the entire bar . Reeking of a mixture of ammonia , old age and a sickly smell. The serving zone , which should be the focal point of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and litter that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The restroom was in even a truly awful state— clogged , with a cracked flush mechanism and walls covered in what I can only assume was human waste .
